Jacob Ballantyne
Jacob (Jake) Ballantyne is a Patent Agent who joined Eschweiler & Potashnik in 2022 as a Patent Engineer, and was registered to practice before the USPTO in 2024. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2021, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. Throughout his time at Ohio State, Jacob served as Vice President of Engineers for Community Service and Co-Leader of the Wheelchair Ramp Project, where he aided in designing/building wheelchair ramps for local community members.
Jacob has experience with circuit design, debugging, and prototyping, microcontrollers, audio equipment, virtual reality (VR), and web applications, utilizing languages such as Java, C, C++, C#, VB.NET, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, and ASP.NET. He is a native English speaker and a proficient Spanish speaker, having taken extensive Spanish coursework including advanced grammar, composition, and phonetics during his time at Ohio State.
Before joining the firm, Jacob worked as an Information Technology Intern at McNeil & Company and as an Electrical Engineering Co-op at Battelle Memorial Institute. Throughout his time at McNeil & Company, he designed and developed web applications to aid in internal operations, which are still used on a daily basis to convey pertinent statistics to chief officers. During his work at Battelle Memorial Institute, he aided in the research, development, and testing of projects such as the Critical Care Decontamination System (CCDS), for decontaminating N95 masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the DroneDefender Counter UAS Device, where he directed a team of several electrical engineers and technicians.
