Nathan T. Lewis

A registered patent attorney with a degree in chemistry, Nathan worked for over seven years at one of the largest law firms in the world and developed extensive experience in patent preparation, prosecution, enforcement, and licensing, with an emphasis in patent prosecution and freedom-to-operate opinions. Nathan also has experience in patent reexamination proceedings, successfully guiding patents through the USPTO with concurrent litigation. Nathan also has significant experience in technology transactions, non-disclosure agreements, IP due diligence, and IP portfolio review, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

Nathan has prosecuted patent applications in all the major technology fields, i.e., chemical, biotechnology, electrical, software, and mechanical. Specifically, Nathan has patent experience in rubber and plastics polymer technology, biomass processing, nanotechnology, scintillators, CRISPR, 3-D printing, batteries, automotive fuels and additives, pesticides and herbicides, process oils, crude oil recovery techniques, consumer healthcare products, telecommunications, smart phones, software, internet methods, medical and dental devices, electronics manufacturing, robotics, LCD displays, antennas, scanning electron microscopes, and a variety of consumer products.

In addition, for numerous private entities and Fortune 500 corporate clients, Nathan has advised clients on IP matters in mergers and acquisitions, as well as IP licensing.  Notably, Nathan was a primary IP attorney advising on Novell’s $450 million sale of patents and applications to CPTN Holdings and the related $2.2 billion merger with Attachmate Corp.

Nathan lives with his wife and eight children in Avon, Ohio.  He joined the firm in January of 2022 with the goal of providing clients continued high quality, prompt service at a reasonable cost.
