Nicolas A. Smith
Nic Smith is a Patent Attorney, registered to practice in Ohio and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Nic was admitted to practice law in Ohio in 2023, having graduated in the top 2% of his class at the University of Akron School of Law. Nic initially joined Eschweiler & Potashnik in 2018 and has been a registered practitioner with the USPTO since 2019.
Nic has technical areas of expertise including electrical and computer engineering. He earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2017, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and was on the Dean's List for 8 consecutive semesters.
In the Master's program at The Ohio State University, Nic focused on digital signal processing and Radio Frequency (RF) technologies. During his tenure at Ohio State and prior to joining the Firm, he worked at Sandia National Laboratories as an engineer in 2015 and 2016, where he designed and characterized antennas and designed and set up various signal processing and RF systems. Nic also worked as a Research Assistant in the ElectroScience Laboratory at Ohio State from 2013 until his graduation, where he developed various RF and antenna systems.
